TuitionBridge,
the Thierry Financial Aid System
The Faculty Members and the Trustees of our Graduate School encourage each qualifying individual to apply for admission. It is the School’s policy to offer financial support whenever needed, for participants who qualify for or deserve a form of financial assistance or reward. All financial aid instruments relate only to the extent or level of the total tuition fees. There is no financial aid for programme-related costs such as travel, room & board, etc.
1. TuitionBridge [1]
TuitionBridge encapsulates most of the instruments of financial aid offered by our Graduate School to qualifying applicants. TuitionBridge is a system funded by all programme-participants of the Graduate School. Of each person's tuition fees, a tenth (called the Thierry camaraderie tithe), is allocated to the TuitionBridge fund, as well as the tithe-of-a-tithe fraction of each person who actually benefits from the system. This method of self-sustained financing, combined with a certain amount of benevolent work undertaken by our faculty members, supports our Graduate School's aim for solidarity. It expresses the Thierry School's esprit de corps -- the common spirit existing in the members of the group; inspiring enthusiasm or service; and strong regard for the honour of the group, and of the School.
2. Augendo [1]
Augendo, meaning "for the purpose of growing" (in Latin), is a special financial aid and grants tool, offered in a correlation with the TuitionBridge. It is specifically aimed at distance education programme-participants who live in low and middle-income countries around the world. Augendo also comprises the financial aid instruments that were previously established by our Graduate School, namely the Recovery Grants (aka tsunami South East Asia grants), and the "Scolarité de Leadership Alliance Afrique" - "Africa Alliance Leadership Tuition".
3. AtlasGrants [1]
The AtlasGrants are offered to admission-qualifying new programme-participants in the environmental leadership (EnviroLead) concentrations of our masters and doctorate programmes.
4. Other grants
The other grants, awards, and scholarship, are: - The Executive Director's Grants; - The Thierry Bal Memorial Scholarship; - The Outstanding Scholar Awards, based on in-programme merit.
5. Doctoral (PhD) curricula
There is a separate structural grant-system for the PhD programme unit, for which budgets are allocated on a calendar year basis.
How to apply for financial aid
The timing for requesting financial aid request is tied to two major factors: - the budget available per semester or academic year (depending on the financial instrument), and, - the date of receipt of application documents for admission into the envisaged programme.
Early application for admission and for financial aid is necessary. Financial aid requests should be addressed directly to the Executive Director of the Graduate School, who will inform the Trustees. The email address is: directorate@thierryschool.be

[1] TuitionBridge and Augendo funds are not available for the following programmes: the EUROPA MA-version; the MBA/MAL Dual Degree; the Rootstock programmes; nor does the system apply to joint-venture or co-tutelage programmes (unless otherwise stated). The AtlasGrants are offered only for participants of the Environmental Leadership ("EnviroLead") specialisations in our MA, PhD, and Rootstock programmes.

Famous "pecuniary" quotes:
"Money often costs too much" -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I am absolutely convinced that no wealth in the world can help
humanity forward. The example of great and fine personalities is the
only thing that can lead us to fine ideas and noble deeds. Can anyone
imagine Moses, Jesus or Gandhi with the money bags of Carnegie?"
“Money never
made a man happy yet, nor will it. The more a man has, the more he
wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one” -- Benjamin
Franklin |
